Sometimes, eating a healthy, balanced diet and exercising regularly can only go so far. Even after exhausting these options, it is common for women and men to experience bothersome fat deposits in various areas of the body. These deposits may appear in areas such as the arms, back, hips, stomach, neck and legs. With liposuction, Portland, Oregon, women and men can experience smooth and proportionate contours. By targeting and treating specific areas, our surgeons use liposuction to effectively reduce localized fat deposits that are unresponsive to diet and exercise.

For Portland women and men, liposuction may help to reduce stubborn fat deposits. While not a substitute for diet and exercise, liposuction can have many benefits. At our practice, our doctors offer both ultrasound and power-assisted liposuction, each with its own advantages.
Power-assisted liposuction involves a cannula (a small tube) that vibrates at a rapid speed. This method effectively suctions away fat cells without affecting surrounding tissue, blood vessels, and nerves. The vibrating cannula helps to break up fat cells in the targeted area for a smooth body contour.
Ultrasonic liposuction involves a cannula that emits high-energy sound waves, which help to liquefy fat cells, making it easier to suction them away than using traditional liposuction alone. This liposuction technique is particularly helpful in addressing fat adjacent to fibrous tissue, such as in the lower back region.
Procedures that can be performed in conjunction with liposuction include tummy tuck or breast augmentation in Portland, Oregon. Our team may also recommend a non-surgical fat reduction treatment called CoolSculpting® for certain patients.

Recovery from a liposuction procedure depends on which method of liposuction was used and how many areas of the body were treated. Generally, patients are instructed to wear a compression garment for several weeks following the procedure. This helps to create a smoother result and minimizes swelling. Most patients report that they returned to work and resumed light activity within a week. It is beneficial to avoid strenuous exercise for at least 4 weeks following liposuction. As swelling subsides in the subsequent weeks, you will be able to see your beautiful results.
