Mommy Makeover

Many of the women considering a Mommy Makeover tell our surgeons that they never considered plastic surgery until seeing how having children changed their body. Those physical changes — sagging abdominal skin, lost breast volume, and pockets of fat — can’t be reversed by exercising more or eating healthier.

A mommy makeover is a combination of multiple surgical procedures designed to restore a woman’s figure after having children. Typically, a mommy makeover combines breast surgery and a body contouring surgery, but there are several surgical options to choose from including a tummy tuck, liposuction, a breast augmentation, a breast lift, a breast reduction, or a labiaplasty. A mommy makeover is a highly individualized procedure that designed to help you achieve your personal goals.

How much does a mommy makeover cost in Oregon?

The cost for a mommy makeover can vary widely depending on your procedures of interest. The most popular combinations tend to combine a tummy tuck with breast augmentation which starts at $18,625 or a tummy tuck with a breast lift (without implants) which starts at $17,645.

At Portland Plastic Surgery Group, these costs include our plastic surgeon’s fee, the surgical assistant’s fee, the cost of implants (if applicable), the cost of garments needed after your surgery, the surgery facility’s fee, the anesthesiologist’s fee, and CosmetAssure insurance. A personalized quote will be provided at your consultation once you and your surgeon have decided on your surgical plan.

Your Consultation

When you meet with one of our surgeons, you’ll have the opportunity to share your aesthetic goals and ask whatever questions you may have about the procedure itself, your options, and the recovery. All of our plastic surgeons are highly qualified and certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS).

Your Mommy Makeover

After the consultation, your surgeon creates a surgical plan, which typically includes cosmetic breast surgery and body contouring procedures. The specifics vary from patient to patient, but these are the procedures most commonly included as part of a Mommy Makeover:

Tummy Tuck: Pregnancy stretches the abdominal skin and muscle. For many women — especially after multiple pregnancies — the lax skin never “snaps back” and remains loose and saggy. Additionally, the abdominal muscles may be separated and protruding. A tummy tuck involves making a horizontal incision just below the bikini line and removing the excess skin. Your surgeon also repositions the belly button and sculpts it so the results are aesthetically pleasing. Separated abdominal muscles may also be tightened, if needed, as part of the tummy tuck.

For women who have excess fat in the lower abdomen and relatively elastic skin — and who don’t need to have their abdominal muscles repaired — a mini tummy tuck may be possible. This is a less invasive procedure that you can discuss with your surgeon during the consultation.

Liposuction: Even women who spend hours at the gym can have stubborn pockets of fat in certain trouble spots. Our surgeons often combine liposuction with tummy tuck surgery to help ensure the results appear even and smooth.

Breast Augmentation: One of the primary concerns women express to our surgeons is the lack of breast volume after pregnancy and breastfeeding. Breast implants can restore the volume in a way that looks and feels natural. Implants such as the Sientra Silicone Gel or Mentor MemoryGel® are filled with cohesive silicone gel that most patients find more aesthetically pleasing than saline‐filled implants. Our surgeons can help you decide on the size and type of implant, and you can even preview your possible results with our VECTRA® 3‐D imaging system.

Breast Lift: Breast implants can restore lost volume, but many women actually need a breast lift to improve the shape and position of their breasts after having children. If your breasts display any degree of sagging, breast augmentation alone may cause them to sag even more. If you’re happy with the size of your breasts, a breast lift alone can create the results you want by making your breasts appear more youthful and perky. During a breast lift, your surgeon removes excess skin, reshapes the tissue, and lifts the breast so that the nipple is more elevated.

Breast Reduction: Some women’s breasts remain excessively large after childbirth. This can create not only unwanted attention, but also physical pain. A breast reduction procedure removes excess breast tissue and skin, for breasts that are more proportional to your body.

Recovery

The recovery after a Mommy Makeover varies from patient to patient, depending on the procedures performed and your natural healing process. One of the benefits of combining procedures in a single operation is only having to plan for a single recovery. This can be especially helpful if you have to arrange for child care during the postoperative period.

Our surgeons provide detailed instructions that should be closely followed to help reduce the risk of complications and enhance the healing process.

Whether you’re a mom with young children still at home, or you’ve postponed getting surgery until your kids became adults, a Mommy Makeover can create results that help you look like the best version of yourself.
