What is the Luxe Peel?

The Luxe Peel is a powerful croton oil-based chemical peel designed to treat deep wrinkles, sun damage, and stubborn skin concerns that other peels and lasers just can’t touch. Also known as a modified phenol peel, it’s not just about surface-level exfoliation; the Luxe Peel creates deeper cellular changes that help you look years younger.

What does the Luxe Peel treat?

Croton oil peels are designed to target:

  • Deep wrinkles, etched lines and folds
  • Sun damage and discoloration
  • Acne scars
  • Pre-cancerous growths (like actinic keratoses)

Benefits of a croton oil peel include:

  • Smoother, brighter skin
  • Fades fine lines and wrinkles
  • Tightens the upper and lower eyelids
  • Evens out sun spots and discoloration
  • Less downtime than a traditional phenol peel
  • 20-25% facial skin tightening
  • Long-lasting results

How does the Luxe Peel work?

This isn’t your average peel. It penetrates deep into the skin, exfoliating while recruiting stem cells from sebaceous epidermal units in the face (your tiny facial hair follicles) to refresh from the inside out.

No surgery, no fillers… just this game-changing peel! (must-see results)

How do I prepare for a Luxe Peel?

Because this peel is aggressive and results based, it is crucial that the skin is ready! 4-6 weeks before the peel, we suggest a skin regimen using medical grade skin care including tretinoin, hydroquinone, and other ingredients to help your skin be ready.

This regimen is a must to prevent pigmentation changes, prolonged swelling, and other side effects. Avoid sun exposure in the weeks leading up to treatment.

Some medications can make your skin more reactive to UV light after your peel, so we may work with you to adjust them before your treatment.

What happens during a Luxe Peel treatment?

The Full-Face Luxe Peel is performed under deep sedation or general anesthesia.

The Eyelid Luxe Peel is done in our procedure suite with ProNox (nitrous oxide) for comfort. Oral sedation is available but usually not needed.

First, the phenol is applied, which numbs the skin for a near pain-free croton oil application. This step is fully customized to your needs—some patients need more focus on pigmentation, while others target skin crepiness. Croton oil of different strengths is then applied.

Once we achieve the desired tissue response, a bismuth mask is applied to the eyelids. This hardens and soothes the skin, allowing for one week of no-touch, no-see healing. The mask must stay completely dry for 7 days, but careful showering and hair washing are possible.

On Day 7, we will apply HydraGel in the office to rehydrate the bismuth mask, making it easy to remove in the shower the next morning (Day 8). For the first week, you’ll use specific ointments and creams provided by our office, and any redness or pinkness will improve daily.

From Day 14 onward, you’ll transition to your regular eyelid skincare routine to maintain results. Sunscreen is essential always, but especially for new skin. We’ll provide a specialized eyelid sunscreen for this healing phase.

When will I see results?

You’ll notice a difference when you first remove the bismuth mask, but the real magic happens over the next few months as your skin continues to regenerate.

How long do results last?

With proper skin care and sun protection, the results of a croton oil peel will last for years to come. Chemically peeled skin does not age in a normal fashion, which is proven by the infrequency of needing to have the peel done again… ever. One and done?

Am I a candidate for a Luxe Peel?

You might be a great fit if you have:

  • Deep wrinkles, lines, and folds
  • Sun spots, brown spots or hyperpigmentation
  • Precancerous skin lesions (actinic keratoses)
  • Acne scars
  • Dry, leathery skin
  • Loose skin, especially around the mouth and lips

Good overall health is important for safe healing and great results. As always, we’ll evaluate your skin and health history to make sure this peel is right for you.

When it comes to the eyelids, this peel is designed for fine lines, crepey skin, excess skin, etched crow’s feet, and sleep lines in the upper lid and brow area.

If you have puffiness or pseudo-herniated fat, a blepharoplasty may be a better option. Many people, however, still choose to have the peel after a blepharoplasty since the two procedures target different concerns.

Full face or just eyes? How we pick the peel that’s right for YOU!

Is there any downtime required after a Luxe Peel?

For a full-face peel, recovery takes about 2-3 weeks:

  • Week 1: Wearing the protective mask.
  • Week 2: Redness continues, using only ointments and creams.
  • Week 3-5: Healing varies based on depth and goals, with some patients transitioning to regular skincare.

Since eyelid skin is thinner, healing tends to be faster:

  • Week 1: The mask stays on.
  • Week 2: Ointments and creams, with redness and swelling improving.
  • Week 3: Most patients look close to normal with minimal cover-up or makeup needed.

Is the Luxe Peel safe?

Like any deep peel, there are risks, especially for patients with darker or very thin skin. During your consultation, we’ll make sure it’s the right choice for you and discuss ways to minimize risks.

How is a croton oil peel different from other chemical peels?

Typical spa peels only work on the upper layers of skin, which means their results are  superficial, working on the outermost skin and skin barrier. The Croton Oil Peel is a deep, aggressive peel that delivers dramatic, long-lasting results—it’s in a completely different league than med spa peels! This applies to both the full-face and eyelid Luxe Peels.
